Task#1-Christmas around the world

Okey then, I am going to write about Christmas and I hope you like it. I chose two places Finland and Madagascar, because I have been in Finland a lot of times and I chose Madagascar, because the name of that place is a little bit funny. Oh, and also Merry Christmas everybody!

Christmas in Finland

Finnish pepole belive that Santa lives in the north part of Finland Korvatunturi (or Lapland), north of the Arctic Circle. In Finnish Merry Christmas is 'Hyvää Joulua'. Everyone cleans their houses ready for the three holydays of Christmas - Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Christmas Eve is very special, when people eat rice porridge and plum fruit juice in the morning. They will then decorate a spruce tree in the home.  In the evening, a traditional Christmas dinner is eaten. The meal will include 'casseroles' containing macaroni, rutabaga, carrot and potato, with cooked ham or turkey.

Christmas in Madagascar

Madagascar is an Island off the east coast of Africa (if someone does not now), so it is very warm at Christmas time in Madagascar! Even though it's hot, common decorations include holly, robins and snow even though none of them exist in Madagascar! The official language of Madagascar is Malagasy. 'Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year' in Malagasy is 'Mirary Krismasy sambatra sy Taona vaovao tonga lafatra ho anao'. In Madagascar, Santa Claus is called 'Dadabe Noely. Madagascan families like to eat Christmas dinner together in large groups and dress up in the best (or new) clothes. The meal is normally Chicken or Pork with rice followed by a special cake. Some rich people go to restaurants for Christmas dinner, but most people stay at home with their families.
